Research areas:

Cardiovascular diagnoses are the most common, and cardiovascular drugs belong to the most frequently prescribed. There use contributes to reduced mortality from cardiovascular events. However, there are marked differences in treatment effects between individual patients with treatment failure or enhanced toxicity occurring in some patients. The focus of our work is to identify genetic variations in genes involved in drug transport or metabolism that give rise to differing response to cardiovascular drugs (pharmacogenomics). Moreover, we investigate potential associations of polymorphisms in candidate genes with the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.
