Research areas:
We study the structure and function of ion channels, in particular hyperpolarization-activated pacemaker channels. The members of this ion channel family contribute to cardiac pacemaking and a variety of neuronal functions. We use a combination of molecular biology techniques, electrophysiological methods and whole animal studies to study these channels. One focus is the generation and analysis of transgenic mouse models including the use of conditional gene targeting. Our goal is to elucidate the molecular structure, expression, regulation and role of these (and other) channels in health and disease.
