Research areas:

The general subject of our research is the exploration of protein-ligand interactions using synthetic peptides and peptidomimetics, with the aim to modulate protein function through controlled interference with the underlying molecular interactions. This involves the sructure-based design and generation of synthetic mimetics of structurally complex protein binding sites. We have established a repertoire of methods to design and synthesize such binding site mimetics, which we are now using to develop inhibitors of biomedically relevant protein-ligand interactions. Our projects focus on interactions of a range of proteins, including viral surface proteins, protein interaction domains, as well as cytokines and enzymes.
